Set sail
Accelerate!
We’ve just announced the Data Accelerator, it’s a unique and (I think) rather exciting development opportunity for anyone working (paid or unpaid) in arts, culture or heritage in Herefordshire.
As the name suggests, it focuses on data. You can find out more about it on this beautiful (PDF) brochure.
Did I mention that it’s free?
I didn’t?
IT IS FREE! Book now.
One of three
The Data Accelerator is one of three data projects that will be run over the coming months as a partnership between Brightspace Foundation, The Audience Agency and Rural Media. It’s part of the Herefordshire: A Great Place project.
The other two projects are to develop a Data Playbook for arts, culture and heritage folk. That will be an online resource to help you with all sorts of data requirements. We want to develop that in partnership with you and people like you in the county.
We’re also running some action research projects with local organisations helping them to use data to tackle specific problems they have. Once those are over we will share what we have learned.
UpdatES
Every couple of weeks we’ll drop an update here on the Brightspace blog to let you know what we’ve been up to.
Week ending 16th August
- What we’ve been up to so far is setting things up. In case you’re interested in such things we’re using Basecamp to communicate and to share documents and tasks and we’re using Google’s G-Suite to collaborate on documents.
- We’ve been in touch with the organisations we hope to work with on the action research projects to start scoping out that work.
- We haven’t given a lot of attention to the data playbook yet.
Over the next couple of weeks
- We'll be trying hard to make sure as many people as possible know about the Data accelerator and, ideally, sign up to take part
- We'll be planning the action research projects more fully

Herefordshire's A Great Place is a programme, jointly funded by Arts Council England (ACE) and National Lottery Heritage Fund, which pilots new approaches that enable cultural and community groups to work more closely together and to place heritage at the heart of communities. There are different strands to the programme and one relates to helping cultural and heritage organisations to access and use data more effectively, ultimately helping them to become more resilient.
